Teachers who are less stressed and less anxious create a better learning environment for students and are better able to adapt to the various demands of their jobs. It is difficult to discuss good mentalhealth and wellbeing with your class, if you do not practice it yourself. In a recent study, medical researchers discovered that in classrooms where teachers admitted to higher levels of burnout, students were discovered to have higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Effective teachers give everything they’ve got, but to sustain that effort, they also know they must practice selfcare. Knowing this, twenty-two members of the teaching fraternity at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham , Ettimadai campus joined the three-day Stress Management through Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique Virtual workshop organized by the Office of Youth Empowerment (OYE),  Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus . They knew that they should invest in themselves to stay stressfree, refreshed and motivated in these crazy-hard times. COVID19 Mr Anu Kumar mentioned that IAM air-conditions the inner world like a cool breeze even for beginners. Dr Balamurugan said that his breathing improved immediately after the practice and was confident that it would improve further with regular IAM practice. Dr G. Jeyakumar and Mr Rajkumar R were thankful about having their doubts about regular practice clarified. The participants said that the workshop was a unique experience for them and thanked Amma for the opportunity. Many also gave referrals to their friends. OYEAmrita wishes all the participants in this infinitely rewarding profession every success.
