Friendship in the time of coronavirus: One of the biggest challenges of the coronavirus pandemic is not being able to see people closest to us, to spend time with them and embrace them. This period of socialdistancing may increase our loneliness and stress. Friendships are crucial to survive this isolation due to the pandemic. Although friendship may look different because of COVID19 you can still show up for your friends. Suresh Keshav Menon, a zilmmaker by profession and passion did exactly this when he brought together his friends from across the globe, professionals from various fields for the Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique virtual workshop organized by the Office of youthempowerment, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus. The group included Dr. Kavipriya Soma from Australia, Vipin Balakrishnan and wife Smitha, software professionals from Dubai, Dr. Aseel Jaleel, of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital – IGMH Maldives and Mariyam Mohamed Didi, Gender and development professional, Maldives, Lakshinarayana from Hexaware Technologies Bangalore, Narayanan K. and A. Balaji entrepreneurs from TamilNadu. Ms Sudha Vetukuri from Smart Kids Educare, NewZealand said that she felt inspired and relaxed after the IAM workshop. She appreciated the delivery and instructions by Brahmacharini Vagishamrita Chaitanya. Writer Rajkumar Khatri from mumbai felt that IAM is specifically designed to remove stress, what he liked most about the technique is the combination of yoga, meditation and visualizations. Ritu Lamba, student of M.A. Yoga from SGRR University Dehradun, was referred to the workshop by her spouse, Mr Gaurav Lamba , Deputy Director of Confederation of Indian Industry Dehradun. She expressed her interest in sharing the wonderful experience with friends and family members. Other participants included Lalitambika L, software engineer from Amrita Technologies , Divya, Santhini, who are homemakers and Professor Lalitha Ramakrishnan from the Department of Management Studies,Pondicherry Central University Pondicherry University who felt that IAM is ideal for corporate executives and professionals.
